Work
Hip-Hop Sulha // Event Planning, Production & Promotion

In Fall of 2006, Modular Moods Records approached us for help with planning an Israeli-Palestinian hip-hop concert as part of the annual Oyhoo! Festival. Taking advantage of our connections in the Israeli hip-hop scene, we helped book several artists for the event including Israel's top recording artists Hadag Nachash, gold-selling Israeli artist Sagol 59, and Palestinian rapper Sameh Zakout, who has been the subject of two documentary films. The event drew over 250 attendants and raised funds for two Israeli organizations that Matzat selected, which promote Jewish-Arab coexistence through the arts. We also designed and coded the event's official website.
Habitus: A Diaspora Journal // Art Direction, Layout & Design

While it's true that our greatest strengths are in the online arena, our roots as designers are in print publishing. So when Habitus: A Diaspora Journal approached us to design their new magazine, we jumped at the opportunity to reengage with a lost art. Matzat worked with Habitus' editors to choose the appropriate type, paper and layout configuration, and then cranked out the 136 page publication in just under three weeks, using the latest digital design and pre-press technologies. The Council of Literary Presses and Magazines says Habitus is "far and away one of the best looking new mags we've taken on."
JDub Records // Website Art Direction & Development

By far our favorite client to work with, JDub Records has relied upon Matzat for their web design, development and Internet viral marketing needs for over four years. In the Summer of 2006, working with 33rpm Design, we laid our previous design to rest and launched a brand new website for JDub, including a state-of-the-art custom-designed content management system (CMS) that meets JDub's specific online needs. The new AJAX-powered CMS, which features an advanced event calendar system, artist directory and media manager (for MP3s, photos and videos), has vastly increased JDub's ability to maintain their website in-house, reducing their dependency on outside assistance for routine updates and minor design changes.
